Want to give feedback about how the university manages accusations of student misconduct and unacceptable behaviour?
Then please join us for a one-hour online focus group on either:
Monday 24 August, from 15:00-16:00 or Tuesday 25 August, from 13:00-14:00
Email SUCommunity@uwe.ac.uk stating which date you would like to attend by Thursday 20 August 2020 if you want to get involved.
What will happen during the workshop?
You’ll be invited to have an open discussion with UWE Bristol students and staff and Students’ Union staff. Staff will ask you what you would expect to happen if you were reporting a student’s behaviour or misconduct to the university. We want to know how you would expect the process of investigation to play out and the values you would expect UWE Bristol to uphold when managing accusations of student abuse or misconduct.
We’ll then ask you to read a short two-page guidance sheet and give us your feedback on the document.
Time will be given during the meeting to read this. If you’d like the guidance sheet in advance to help you, please email SUCommunity@uwe.ac.uk
No student or staff member is expected to ‘put up’ with sexual violence or harassment, racism, homophobia or transphobia, bullying or any other form of abuse. UWE Bristol welcomes complaints and wants to ensure all students and staff can enjoy our campus and their student experience.
Your feedback will help us support students and maintain a happy learning environment for current and future students.
What will happen to the feedback I give?
Your feedback will be used to help review our processes, policies and communication regarding expectations of student behaviour at UWE Bristol and how will handle allegations of misconduct.
We will not use your names in our focus groups reports. We will pull out themes and quotes from your feedback and share these with colleagues, but no student will identifiable and no comments will be attached to individual attendees.
The focus group is not a space for disclosure. If you have experienced abuse or harassment and need support, please access UWE Bristol’s Wellbeing Support Options for specialist help.
How do I get involved?
Please email SUCommunity@uwe.ac.uk stating which date you would like to attend by Thursday 20 August 2020.
We will email you on Friday 21 August with the briefing sheet and an invite to join us on Microsoft Teams.
If you can’t make these dates, we would welcome your written feedback. Please email SUCommunity@uwe.ac.uk by Wednesday 26 August 2020. Your comments will be shared anonymously with staff who are reviewing our student conduct and expectation processes and policies.
