This year’s Bristol Big Give campaign has saved a MASSIVE 2,028,581 kgs of CO2 emissions from nearly 25,000 donation bags! We’ve also saved 33 elephants (199.33 tonnes) worth of waste from going into landfill! We received 3,094 bags across UWE Bristol campuses alone!

Your donations were shared amongst four British Heart Foundation (BHF) shops around Bristol, but for the first time this year we ran a Pop Up Shop at Frenchay during Freshers. This allowed you lovely lot to furnish your kitchens and bedrooms with nearly new (and ridiculously cheap) goodies. After hearing about how much you loved it, we’ve already got more dates in the pipeline – so keep your eyes peeled!

Every year we team up with Bristol University and the wider city to encourage students leaving for summer to donate their unwanted items. Not only does this create a more circular economy, but raises loads of money to keep the British Heart Foundation’s amazing work going! This year we raised a whopping £348,838 – all thanks to you!

And this is incredible, because did you know that 10 bags could nurse a broken heart by funding a full day's BHF Heart Nursing care? How about that 100 bags could help find a cure by funding one of our young scientists for seven days? Or that 1,000 bags could help 40 young heart patients to gain independence, new skills and confidence whilst meeting other young heart patients.

The British Heart Foundation’s important work benefits Bristol hugely, as in the last 12 months there have been: 58 Heart at Work Schemes; six BHF-trained Healthcare Professionals; 16 CPR Awards given to groups; nine defibrillators purchased and one Heart Start Scheme!

If you want to get involved for 2020, look out for the giant red BHF donation bins all around Bristol from April 20 – and donate your unwanted clothing, shoes, bags, accessories, books, computer games, DVD’s/CD’s, stationary, electrical items, homeware and sports equipment and even unopened (and in date) food.
