Hi! Here are a few highlights from my first month as your VP Societies and Communication. It’s been a great first month, and I can’t wait to see what next month brings! Apart from the below, I’ve also been responding to funding requests, questions from societies/students, and have had some key meetings with UWE Bristol and The Students’ Union staff.

First week

My first week consisted of settling in and learning the various departments and processes of The Students’ Union. I also attended a two-day training conference with other Presidents (or Sabs) from across the South West. It was great to see how we could collaborate as UWE Presidents, and with Presidents from other students’ union’s, especially on mental health and sustainability.

President Away Day

I had a great time at our away day. The day was a chance to get to know each other and talk with managers from The Students’ Union, about how we are going to achieve our manifestos. ????.

Achieving Results for Societies!

I’ve met with people about a creative society space on Frenchay at ‘The Works’, and additional funding for inter-cultural activities ??, so watch this space!

I’m also currently working on trying to get a more accurate, easily accessible society account balance ??, an online payment voucher form to make it easier to access and claim back funds, and solutions for the next of kin issue when buying memberships ??. Finally, I’m sorting out the venue for the Society Awards Ball.

I’ve also been loving representing The Students’ Union at graduations ?? and wearing gowns even before I’ve graduated! ??
