Here’s our list of Bristol-based Chinese New Year events to kick-start the Year of the Rat.
Free trip to Chinese New Year at Wai Yee Hong
Kicking off the very beginning of Chinese New Year on Saturday 25th, you can join us as we visit Bristol’s largest Chinese supermarket for a magical afternoon. There’ll be traditional live firecrackers, lion dance, Kung Fu, crafts and street food: including dumplings, Japanese food, cakes and bubble tea! WokyFest at Wapping Wharf
Hop on the harbour ferry across the water to Wapping Wharf on Saturday 25 for their annual Chinese New Year celebration! It’s a family-friendly, day-long mini festival, hosted by the award-winning Woky Ko Asian restaurant. You can discover your 2020 fortunes, scoff incredible Asian delicacies, watch the University of Bristol Chinese Lion Dance Troupe and embrace the traditional festivities.

A little after the beginning of Chinese New Year, Bristol Museum & Art Gallery’s Chinese New Year weekender is going to be a kaleidoscopic extravaganza. On 1 February, there’ll be spectacular traditional and contemporary performances, stalls, workshops, activities, a delicious Chinese-inspired menu in the café and beautiful Chinese goods for sale in the shop – so, it’s worth the wait.

Feast away at Za Za Bazaar to celebrate the Year of the Rat
Za Za Bazaar should be on everyone’s Bristolian restaurant bucket list. An all-you-can-eat buffet with a diverse array of cuisines on offer and situated overlooking the beautiful harbour!
You can celebrate Chinese New Year in Za Za-style on 25 and 26 January, with specials such as: golden fried king prawns with chilli bean sauce, double cooked pork belly, Ma La Xiang Guo and stir-fried cauliflower steaks! There’ll even be Lion Dances in the restaurant over the weekend to create a celebratory ambience while you feast away.
