The Presidents Team at The Students’ Union at UWE would like to reassure our members that we are acutely aware of the financial challenges being faced by students at this current time. While as you would expect we are putting our energy into making the start of year the best experience it can be, we are currently working on both highlighting the existing financial support that is available through The Students’ Union and university but also a range of new initiatives.
The Presidents Team at The Students’ Union at UWE would like to reassure our members that we are acutely aware of the financial challenges being faced by students at this current time. While as you would expect we are putting our energy into making the start of year the best experience it can be with the Welcome Fairs, inductions, events and much more we are currently working on both highlighting the existing financial support that is available through The Students’ Union and university but also a range of new initiatives covering a wide range of cost of living elements.
These include but may not be limited to;
- Food support - bring your own bowl free food, cook off with ingredient packs, food boxes, and unwanted food drop off points for redistribution
- Clothing support - clothes swap shops, essentials boxes
- Travel support – SU bike loan scheme, sustainable travel deals
- Signposting – hardship funds and JobShop for employment
- Considering the cost of events that we run - daytime events to be free of charge
- Period poverty and sustainable period products

We, your Presidents, and all at The Students’ Union are aware of the pressures the cost of living crisis is putting on you and we will continue to do all we can to support you to have the best experience, both academically and socially, while at UWE Bristol.
